Two organizations, one community of support.
"CIVC" and the "Veterans Assistance Commission" are two separate entities that are often confused for one another. Here's what each one does, and how they work together.
Logan County Veterans Assistance Commission
A Local Unit of Government
The Veterans Assistance Commission is governed by the Illinois State Compiled Statute 305 ILCS 5/6 1-4, par 6-1.4. The Logan County Veterans Assistance Commission is a local unit of government.
Mission: To provide exemplary, client-centered services and benefits that respond to the needs of veterans and their families.
Types of assistance provided:
- VA Claims & Advocacy — prepare, present, and prosecute claims for VA Disability and Pension benefits on behalf of veterans and their families
- VA healthcare
- Financial assistance
- Miscellaneous — requesting copies of DD214s, service records/medals, and burial benefits

Central Illinois Veterans Commission
A 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization
Mission: To provide Central Illinois Honorable and General discharged veterans with the tools and support systems to enable them to move forward to obtain a permanent home. We believe that every veteran deserves a safe and stable place to call home.
Our vision: As a Veterans Services organization, CIVC is dedicated to providing access to comprehensive services to all veterans in the community. We are partnering with a variety of organizations to create a Veterans Health and Wellness Collaborative, focused on providing holistic care to all veterans in the area.
We understand that it can be difficult for veterans to transition back into civilian life, and that's why we strive to provide them with the resources they need to do so. One of our most unique services is our tiny homes program, providing veterans with affordable, permanent housing tailored to their specific needs. We also have additional programs to help veterans continue their education, find employment, and receive mental health services.
