Who is eligible for a CIVC Tiny Home?
The program is built for Central Illinois veterans who need stable, permanent housing and are ready to take part in the wraparound support — counseling, coaching, and skills training — that comes with it. Every application is reviewed individually by CIVC's board, so the best way to find out if you qualify is to apply.
How do I apply?

Is the home really mortgage-free?
Yes. Each home CIVC builds is dedicated directly to a veteran with no mortgage attached. The home is funded through donations, sponsorships, and community fundraising, not through a loan the veteran repays.
How long does the process take?
Timelines depend on funding and construction, since CIVC is a volunteer-run nonprofit building homes one at a time. Homes No. 01 and No. 02 were completed roughly nine months apart. The Our Impact page shows exactly where the next home stands.
What support comes with the home besides housing?
Housing is the anchor, not the whole plan. Veterans in the program have access to CIVC's coordinated services, including mental health counseling, dental care referrals, workplace and financial skills training, and life coaching, through our partnership with the VA, Logan County Board of Health, and area community colleges.
Do I have to already live in Central Illinois to apply?

Where does my donation actually go?
Gifts fund the construction of tiny homes for veterans and the wraparound services — counseling, coaching, training — that go with each one. See the Financial Transparency page for how CIVC reports on its finances.
Is CIVC a registered nonprofit, and is my gift tax-deductible?
CIVC operates as a nonprofit organization serving Central Illinois veterans. For our current tax-exempt status, EIN, and official filings, see the Financial Transparency page or contact us directly — we're glad to provide documentation for your records.
Can I direct my gift to a specific home or purpose?
Yes. If you'd like your gift directed toward a specific home, sponsorship, or program, note that when you give or mention it when you contact us, and CIVC's board will apply it accordingly.
Do you accept non-cash or in-kind donations?
In addition to monetary gifts, CIVC accepts donations of items that benefit veterans in the program. Contact us to find out what's currently needed and how to arrange a donation.
How can I see where CIVC's money goes each year?
CIVC's Financial Transparency page links to our annual report and Form 990. If you'd like a printed copy or have questions about a specific figure, reach out and a board member will follow up.
Can my company or organization sponsor an entire home?
